Leaders-Alexander the Great
My inspiration has to be Albert Einstein or Galileo Galilie. But as we are supposed to write on leaders, I have decided to write on:
Alexander the Great
Alexander was born in 356 B.C. in Pella, Macedonia (present Greece).
His father is King Philip II and his mother is an Epirote princess Olympias.
Aristotle one of the best tutor during his time, influenced Alexander by giving him a valuable understanding of various subjects such as Science ,Medicine and philosophy. He also got good training in improving his communication skills.
Alexander is a good problem solver as he controlled a black horse which many including his father found difficulty in mounting on it. His father gave him the horse as a gift and the horse was named Bucephalus. Bucephalus was a very good companion for Alexander until it died.
Alexander was so determined to conquer most part of the world. Starting from his birth place he proceed towards East conquering all the places including Egypt, Persia, Afghanistan until the western part of India.
In his mission to conquer the world he did not forget to treat his army soldiers and officials with care. There are historical evidences where Alexander has treated others with care, personally.
Alexander was keen in integrating the good things from different culture. He introduced Persian way of greeting higher officials. He also encouraged his people to marry females of other regions. He himself wore dresses of different culture. He also trained the Persian soldiers in the style of Greek.
Alexander’s closest friend was Hephaestion. He was also his army’s commander.
He is also a reason for the erection of some temples .
He died in 323BC, in Babylon, because of an unknown serious illness.
He is addressed in different ways by different cultured people. Everybody knows that he is one of the great leaders.
I think Alexander’s courage, determination and also his sense of surroundings enabled him to achieve his expectations. He led a good role model when he wants to emphasize some specific behaviour among his soldiers. He concentrated on the process rather than the result which enabled him to follow his strategies efficiently and get success. He self motivated himself when he met difficulties and criticism. Even though he had some love affairs, he had enough self-control in the time of need. He avoided things that would affect his ambitions whenever necessary.
Being Courageous, determined and self-controlled has helped me in several places to achieve the required. I need to improve, on being more flexible to fit the environment when required to pursue my expectations.
Recommendation : Watch the movie, “Alexander”.
