Life in Singapore - ADAM

First of all Singapore's an island in south-east Asia and its REALLY, REALLY, REALLY tiny. Singapore was also known as Temasek in its early days. It was disovered by Sir Stamford Raffles on the 28 of January 1819. For me to explain the origin of its name, I'll have to call it Singapura, it's Malay name. Singa means lion in Malay and Pura means city in Sanskrit. So its effectively LionCity. Singapore's really small so almost everybody lives in apartment blocks or flats. Only wealthy people can afford bungalows and such. I live in a flat in Tampines, a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY small town in the east. Anyway, did you know that the capital of Singapore is Singapore because its REALLY, REALLY, REALLY small? Its almost Christmas, Orchard Road, the shopping district, is really packed with traffic jams around the clock because of Christmas shopping, so my family has been avoiding Orchard Road. Anyway, the business district at Shenton Way has lots of skyscrapers which make up the Singaporean skyline. Singapore's island resort is Sentosa which is where Singaporeans go for a holiday if were not going overseas. Singapore has lots of trees which is why some people it the Green City. Its quite clean not because Singaporeans don't litter but we have a whole army of cleaners who are mostly foreigners. Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
